CBRC2005 & ISCBB 2005 || CBRC Annual Meeting & International Symposium on Computational Biology & Bioinformatics, 27th-28th October, Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan

The Computational Biology Research Center (CBRC), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology(AIST)is a laboratory of the bioinformatics research specialty.
Five years have passed, since it has established in 2001 at Odaiba area, and several important works has been piled in the field on genome information, gene expression, protein structure and function, protein networks and proteomes etc., based on state-of-the-art expertise and the high performance computing environment.
It is indeed joyous to be able to introduce these results in CBRC2005, since this symposium has a special meaning. Although, several research of CBRC had been announced in various places so far, the chance to announce them all at once was not able to be taken easily.
Therefore, this time becomes the beginning of the real annual meeting. I think that we can hear the excellent research reports in this symposium that should be commemorated.

It is our great pleasure to hold “2005 International Symposium on Computational Biology & Bioinformatics (ISCBB 2005)” at CBRC, Odaiba, Tokyo.
Bioinformatics is an essential and indispensable tool for biological study, disease diagnosis, new drug discovery, and personalized medicine design. On the other hand, rapid progress of computing techniques makes it possible to launch a novel discipline of IT-based biology study as computational biology. This symposium is a successor of ISCBB 2004 held at Gyeongju, Korea in November 2004, which was organized by CCBB, KISTI (Korea) in cooperation with CBRC, AIST (Japan) and BII, A*Star (Singapore).
This time, ISCBB 2005 is organized by four bioinformatics institutes from four countries: CBRC, CCBB, BII, and IGIB, CSIR(India) as a new member. We wish this symposium will vigorously enhance scientific cooperation and personnel exchange among Asian bioinformatics groups.
