CBRC was founded to
research and develop the technologies in Bioinformatics in April
2001 as one of the affiliated RC, of AIST.
We research on
algorithm and representation method of data which would be a basis
of Bioinformatics, also on constructing information processing
systems to infer and calculate biological phenomena that contain
huge amount of data by experiments, as well as on comprehensive
analyses of various lives' genomes by applying those techniques.
It is characteristic that we have interdisciplinary
research teams that are comprised of researchers from informatics,
mathematics, physics and system engineering, and those from
biology and medical science. To be added to it, as to the
infrastructure, 1040 PC cluster characteristically supports our
research.
We also put a great emphasis on the
collaboration among industry, academia and government. We take
many researchers from companies and colleges, and make effort to
raise competent researchers who can lead Bioinformatics in the
21st century.
