DB-SPIRE
Database for Structure-based Protein Interaction REsearch

released on 11th Nov., 2006

The protein is a biopolymer with various functions, whose function is demonstrated by the molecule's interacting and reacting with other materials. Therefore, it is necessary to search for the interaction sites and to analyze the structural changes by the interaction, in order to understand the mechanism.

This database includes motif sites of all protein structures in PDB, which are assigned from the motif position in the amino acid sequence. In this database, we use the two kinds of the functional motif databases (i.e. PROSITE and BLOCKS), and search the two kinds of the protein sequence in a PDB file, that is, a sequence described in SEQRES line and in ATOM line for the motif positions in the database. Consequently, the database includes four types of motif site data.
